Join us for our most prestigious flat race meeting of the year, Bell & Plate Day. With a history dating back to the 16th century, this a race day not to be missed. The Carlisle Bells are the world's oldest known sporting trophy and were first presented in the 16th century. One is inscribed, 'The sweftes horse thes bel tak' (The swiftest horse this bell to take). They are kept in Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery in Carlisle and brought to the racecourse each year for Bell & Plate Day.
The race itself is recognised as one of the most competitive handicaps of the season and is often targeted up to a year ahead by many trainers. For a great days racing, steeped in history, join us on 27th June.
Tickets are just £12 if booked in advance. Gates open at 12pm and the first of 7 races is at 2pm.
